Having trouble topping up a Chinese game?

Having trouble topping up a Chinese game from outside China? You find that paying for in-game items or game credits is more difficult than expected, especially when the game uses WeChat Pay or other Chinese payment methods.

Many Chinese games are designed around local payment systems. For international players, a foreign Visa or Mastercard not work directly for every game, even when the card can be added to WeChat Pay.

Why Is It Difficult to Top Up Some Chinese Games?

Many Chinese games use WeChat Pay for in-game purchases and game top-ups. WeChat Pay generally works best with Chinese bank cards and local payment methods.

In some cases, a payment method that works at first later become unavailable or restricted. This can be frustrating when you simply want to buy game currency, items, or other in-game content.
